Resources
ACIL brings together materials for studying, teaching, and engaging with international law in Africa. We aim is to make international law easier to access without making it shallow. The resources shared here are intended to support serious study, public education, advocacy, and community-centred engagement.

Publications
ACIL publishes research and analysis on public international law in Africa. This includes reports, policy briefs, issue papers, essays, commentaries, and reflections on international law, human rights, democracy, accountability, peace and security, international justice, development, and African regional systems.

Legal Explainers
ACIL’s legal explainers break down important concepts, institutions, cases, and procedures in international law. They are written in clear language for readers who want to understand the law without losing its depth. Topics may include treaty bodies, the African human rights system, the Universal Periodic Review, state responsibility, civic space, equality, migration, and accountability.

Annual Reports
ACIL’s annual reports provide a record of our work, growth, partnerships, activities, publications, events, and institutional priorities. Each report reflects on the progress made during the year, the lessons learned, and the work still ahead. The reports also help ACIL remain transparent and accountable to the communities, partners, contributors, and supporters who engage with its mission.

Toolkits
ACIL develops practical guides and toolkits to support learning, advocacy, documentation, and engagement with legal mechanisms. These materials are designed to help people move from understanding the law to using it. They may include guides on AU and UN mechanisms, shadow reporting, urgent appeals, community documentation, advocacy planning, and legal empowerment.
